What My Goals Are For May 2022

Happy May!

It’s that time again when I take a moment and look at the goals that I set for the previous month (April) and then share four to six goals that I have for the upcoming month. I started this process back in 2017 in order to see results in my life and absolutely love the Dopamine that floods my body when I complete something.

Should you ever want to see what goals I’m working on or see a full database then go to my “Goals” page on my navigation bar at the top of my blog, or you can click here. Please note that upon making this blog I couldn’t remember January, February, or March goals – so they do not have a corresponding page. Should you want to check on “live” completion instead of waiting for the wrap-up post, you can go to the May page here.

Raising My Three and Me presents… my goals for May 2022!

Before I get started on the post, I just wanted to give a warm welcome to any new readers and acknowledge my supporters! Thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to read my blog post. If this is your first time here, I write about parenting, personal growth, and productivity! If this sounds interesting, or you like my blog, you should subscribe, follow, or bookmark this page for later! If you’ve been here before, thank you for returning!

Okay, time to go back to the content!

In April I had the following six goals on my mind.

  • Create a portfolio for my freelance writing business.
  • See the house we might move into.
  • Have a Spring photoshoot
  • Create a list of my blogging goals.
  • Make a list of things I would like to try.
  • Take the kids out somewhere fun.

Create a portfolio for my freelance writing business:

I didn’t end up getting to this one just because I have had to take a bit of a break from writing. I found myself in a major slump in April (this is normal for me) so I didn’t get around to this. I may or may not still create a portfolio so that you can hire me to write for your site, but it is nowhere near the top of my priority list.

See the house we might move into:

This is probably the biggest reason behind my slump. After being yanked around for an entire month, we found out that the landlords were not evicting their previous tenant after all. It would have been nice if they were at least kind enough to let us know than to “ghost” us. To be honest, as much as I’m happy they care about their tenant, it would have been the right thing to do to reach out, especially since they offered this place to us.

Unfortunately for them, I’m no longer interested in working with them in the future. It’s okay though because I’m super glad we will not be moving up north because it caused so much anxiety for me and my husband.

So, no, this one was not completed.

Have a Spring photoshoot:

I migrated this goal to this current month as it’s still super important to me (I like to take seasonal family photos) so although I didn’t get around to it in April, I’m migrating it to May. You can read more down below.

Create a list of my blogging goals:

Yes, I did this one. I jotted down a list of ten goals that I have for blogging. If I’m being honest, though, that was back when I thought that I wanted a career with my blog. I just don’t. Networking and promoting content all day does not feed my soul and I’d rather focus more on writing. I love the writing blog posts, I do not want to be on social media, talk to people all day, or feel like I’m not good enough because my DA is a small number, or people who do not do as they say, or the blogging politics out there. I just want to write and look back on these posts.

That’s why I started a blog in the first place and I’m going back to it.

Make a list of things I would like to try:

I did this one, too. I had this idea where I was going to try something new every single week and jotted down a lot of ideas (52 of them, to be exact) but honestly, this is another idea I had that immediately goes to the garbage.

I know, I have a problem with committing to things and I’m pretty flaky on everything, but I’m trying to work on this.

Take the kids out somewhere fun:

My original plan for this was to bring them to the trampoline park again or finally use the gift card my brother got them for Build-A-Bear on Christmas, but again, we kind of stayed inside (we also got sick for 5 days so that was rough on us) but we did end up bringing them to the playground for them to play and get out some energy, we visited my parents, and Aubri had a sleepover with her Grammy (my mother-in-law) so I’m going to count this one a win! We plan to take them out of the house this month.

Here are my six goals for May 2022:

Read every single day:

I want to get back into doing challenges and have been wanting to improve my reading skills (reading more than three books a year) so I’m working on exercising my brain by learning how to read faster.

Lenstore has a test where it tests your reading speed as well as how many books you can read in a year. Upon doing this again (I had to find it all over again) it determined that if I read for thirty minutes a day, at my reading speed, I can read 37 books in a year. That feels so amazing and crazy to me!

My Lenstore results

This information was mindblowing which is why for my first 30-day challenge, I’m going to be reading every single day. I’m not committing to a certain page amount or minutes, but I will be reading as much as possible and seeing where I’m at towards the end of the month.

I’m currently reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken and I’m liking it so far.

Check out my Goodreads account to see what I’m reading and reviews.

Have a spring photoshoot:

I already mentioned this one a bit but I definitely want to go somewhere where my little family will take some cute pictures. I like doing this frequently so that I can watch our family evolve over time. I wish I did more photo sessions when Aubri (my oldest) was a baby but, we will have to make this work.

I have this fear that I’m going to forget everything when I’m old which is why I get so upset when I miss documenting things.

I have some pose ideas on Pinterest (that’s a great place to look) but we frequently do our own poses depending on what feels like a cool idea. My husband has a knack for photography; probably one of his hidden skills.

I will have to plan a trip to get these photos done somewhere outside. We just do them ourselves because I’m not too picky on the quality of the photo; they come out great anyways!

Make outline for memoir

I recently read a memoir from a fellow author friend over on Twitter (which you should read it as it’s only available until the end of the month) and is perfect for those who love Tarot, reading about marriage, and midlife crisis! I really liked it.

While I read this memoir, it made me remember my idea that I wanted to write my own as a way to share my story in one space. Plus, it hits that itch of writing (I do still want to get writing a novel series) and I’m used to writing about my life.

I don’t know, it’s just an idea where I would like to jot down the outline of what my memoir would be and arrange it to make sense. Above all, I need to figure out the purpose of what it brings to readers.

Should it be a “good enough” story, I will get working on it. Otherwise, I will do a mini journaling series where I write about my experiences and do my best to overcome them mentally.

If I don’t get around to making this, I at least want to get back into writing; especially since my husband got me this satisfying USB typewriter for my Mother’s Day gift and I’m currently using that to type; love it!

Make at least three lists

Now, I want to be a little more specific on this one because in previous months I would have a goal to have a “planning session” and then when I went to do it, I had no direction of what that meant.

I love making lists so this goal will be fun!

Here are some ideas for lists I could make:

  • Video games that are on my backlog.
  • Songs to add to my playlist.
  • Fun things that I would like to do
  • Things to try whenever I’m in a bad mental health episode.
  • TV shows to watch.
  • Books read
  • Things to get done around the house.
  • Books to read.
  • My all-time favorite things.
  • Things I don’t want to forget.
  • Things I would like to talk to my parents about

You probably get the point. I just want to pick out three list ideas and get around to working on them.

Take over one of Nate’s Twitch streams

My husband quit his job a couple of months ago to try to pursue a dream career in the video gaming world – which lead him back to trying to make it on Twitch. Well, it has been a scary ride but he has become an affiliate and now he can get more of a passive income from Twitch. Although we are unsure if it will be able to pay the bills at this point, I do moderate his Twitch streams.

Since I don’t necessarily want to hop on Twitch as a whole (not yet anyways) I thought it would be fun if I just step in for one entire stream doing my own thing and see what happens. Of course, I don’t necessarily want to play his video games, it would be fun (and maybe stressful) to take a step in his shoes and see what streaming video games live is all about.

If you like video games, you should check out his streams! He currently is streaming (almost) every day this month from 7 PM – 11 PM EST. Check it out here.

Celebrate motherhood

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and what better goal to have this month than to celebrate motherhood. Not only am I going to show love to the mothers in my life, but I’m going to celebrate being a mother because this is not an easy thing to do.

I want to bond with my children and show my love and appreciation for my own mother.
