Raising My Three And Me

The unfiltered thoughts and happenings of a married SAHM

In Conclusion | Readathon Finale

The readathon is wrapping up and I stopped reading two hours ago. I’m absolutely burnt up with reading that I’m going to stop here!

After an (almost) 24 hours of forcing myself to read – I was able to finish a book! True, I didn’t get a lot more than that done. I figured I would have been able to finish at least three books. That didn’t happen but maybe it could when I do a straight challenge. You know, when my little one’s are a little bigger!

Spoilers

So, this final bit (I finished 99 Days by Katie Cotugno) was a bit intense for me. I knew I didn’t like Patrick. It’s a shame that Molly did all of that hard work to fix her relationships just to watch it all explode again.

Love is such a complicated thing and this book really brought those uncomfortable versions of myself forward. I was young and in love all over again with a guy who treated me like property.

Honestly, I wish there was more character development for all involved but they were all only mad at Molly – double standards.

Anyway, Im proud of Molly for standing up for herself and had the courage to emerge from the ashes again. It’s hard to face shame of mistakes, believe me, I know! But she was right. She didn’t make those decisions herself and never blamed someone else for them – that was refreshing.

Overall, I did enjoy this book! Even with all it’s imperfect characters and flaws.

My Thoughts On The Readathon

This was a lot of fun!

I learned that reading at night is not good for me. Although I do love reading with my little light I got for my birthday, staying up all night is impossible for me.

It was hard for me to not feel like a failure when I fell asleep – by choice and accident and every time I had to put my book down. I felt bad that I planned on reading at least three books and I only finished one.

Someday I might be able to do the full 24 hours and maybe I will go into it with a clear plan. Like, sleeping the day before, getting energy boosters, and being smarter with book choices.

One thing that surprised me was how much I loved making these candid updates as I read. I do love it and hope you did too!

I’ll count it as I did this. Next time, I hope to do even better!

Thanks for reading and see you next time.
